During the last summer, a seasonal educational trail going across the Sysľovské polia SPA was opened for the first time.
We would like to express our thanks to the visitors to the area for observing the signage. We believe they liked the trail with information boards. The time comes when the great bustards, which live only in this very location in Slovakia, begin their wintering season. In the course of the next months, the flocks of hundreds of bustards will rest in fields. The individuals need to save as much energy as possible to survive winter. That is the reason why we make people aware the trail’s season come to an end on 30 September (Saturday).
From 1 October 2023 until 30 June 2024 the entrance to the educational trail is not allowed for the public. If you would like to visit the area, you can use the year-long red hiking trail from Čunovo to the tri-border area.
In addition to the educational trail, in cooperation with the management of the city boroughs we have been preparing other elements which will enhance and make the residents’ free time in the nature in the vicinity of Sysľovské polia more pleasant. As a part of the LIFE Steppe on border project (@LIFESteppeonborder) we project planting a fruit trees alley, constructing two monitoring towers and creating multipurpose resting spots. We have been taking administrative steps for constructing the bike path linking the city boroughs safely.
